1954 SEASON At the first practice veteran Coach Doc', Preische met with a young squad of net men, inexperienced except for the two Ramnanis. These two, playing their third varsity season for the Maroon, made a particularly suc- cessful doubles combination. and were the backbone of the 1954 varsity tennis team. HCopu was the Captain, and his determination was felt by the other members of the squad. They will be sorely missed next season. The record was not impressive but the spirit of the team was xery hi h We were able to defeat Storm King once and St Patrlcks H1 h twice A very memorable uctorv was that scored over the Faculty in an exciting four-team doubles match. We hope that this battle with the 'gancientsw will become an annual event! In addition to the Ramnanis, the team will lose such valuable performers as Fuertes, Garcia, L., Graham, and Vance. They have done their part and deserve to receive credit for their efforts. Coach Preische receives the team's vote for his patience and understanding. Many fine players have developed under his instruction. The 1954 team hopes that in the very near future with younger players developing and facilities improved Varsity Tennis will be able to turn 1n a good record and uphold the athletic prestive of NYMA on the courts Warm up Before the Match WI 157 - , , f 1 g ' - . , .U .
