The 1954 Varsity Track Team turned in a record of three wins and two losses. with two meets canceled, one hy Government lnspeclion. the other hy heavy rains. ln the dash events Charlie Stockton and Steve Orseck were sure bets in the point department and rendered yeoman service in the relay. Bill Hulsizer made great progress in the quarter mile. losing only to the R.P.I. runner. Fred Touchstone and John Stewart picked up valuable points in the 880. and Boh Brown made an impressive showing in the mile. The relay quartet of Orseck. Creenhlatt. Johnson. and Stockton were undefeated. ln the held events Capt. Merle Johnson and Jack Nlurphy did well in the high jump. while Brahm Green- hlatt was a consistent winner in the broad jump. Bob Hagen and Ed Cato scored in the shot, and George Clai- borne and Roh Sinatra hurled the javelin to advantage. John Stewart also performed well in the pole vault. Victories were scored over Irving School, Goshen Central High, and St. Patrick's High. Steve Orseck was voted the Bob Hamilton, '40, Memorial Trophy, and Charlie Stockton was elected Captain for next year. It was a season of building for the future, and Coach Cipolaro should experience another good season in 1955, with the younger men coming along, and a good group of veterans to start with. 1954 SEASQN RECORD NY NIA NY NIA NYNIA NYNIA NYNIA Irving School H1 hland Falls H S Coshen Central H1 h St Patricks Hi h R P I Frosh Trian ular Nleet with New Paltz High and Highland Hi h canceled hy Cosernment Inspection Meet with Ramsey N J H1 h rained out In Stride at the NYMA Track 1.:.. f-13'-' 153 j 1 ....... 77 V' , ............
