118 TRCDCDP When the Troop assembled in September we found ourselves ready for a good year As we met our old friends and made new ones we at once began to develop that spmt which has marked Troop D since its for mation in 1912 The first organized activity was the annual ride to Black Rock Forest always a lasting glow 1n our memories Lnder Cadet Capt Steve Robbins we were quickly blended 1nt0 a co ordinated unit This was quite evident by the end of the Fall Term for me already had three parade ribbons treammg from our guldon In the annual Christmas Decorations contest the Troop came to the fore and our Nativity Scene was judged the winning display This gave us a welcome Company weekend The wmter passed as winters do in chocked full of the good old Troop D spirit Cadet Capt Robbins left us in the Spring to join the Senior Staff Wlth Cadet Lieut Robert Boal our new C0 at the helm we strove to make a top notch record After some of the finest mounted parades at NYMA and individual triumphs of many members on the Horse Show Team we were confident that we had succeeded Spring IS a wonderful time of year and the Troop D Stables thundered with the galloping of faithful steeds Spring is also time for romance and social events and the red coats had their share of both As the Class of 54 leaves for more advanced assignments the Troop IS sorry to lose Steve Robbins Bob Boal Jack McLaren Rudy Gomez and Jerry Jansen None of these are Head Boys or mental wizards but they can boast a truly great honor membership in Troop D Acting Captazn Romani' LER Bom.
