'lr ak f f which passing years will not dim. We refer to those occasions this year when General and Mrs. Davis and Captain and Mrs. Pattillo invited us to dinner. Members of the Corps wish to thank them for their fine and generous hospitality. A school is not made up wholly of books and class work. Certainly, parts of it lie along quieter, pleas- anter paths, around an open fire, in these instances, with a thoughtful host and a charming and gracious hostess sharing their homelife with a group of school boys. One does not easily forget such kindnesses. After Mothers' Day Week-end how quickly the school year draws to a close! Sober thoughts begin to haunt us. Even prospects of June, the exit door of the year, cannot intrigue us into forgetting that busy days are at hand. Final examinations cast long shadows, and we, withdrawing from the social whirl, begin speculatively to eye our teachers and to con our lessons a bit more earnestly. The fiddling grasshopper at last attempts to emulate the busy bee. Frequent communications from home urge the birth of that final spurt of energy about which one has hinted-for diplomatic reasons. Aunt Clara underlines unoblesse oblige in her letters, and Mother's Do try a little harder, dear, is infinitely more comforting than Father's terse If you don't pass I'll know the reason why. Gone are social joys, but not for long! Time has a way of hurrying on, and before we realize it, che last evening service in Chapel is over, Commencement Sunday has slipped into history, and visitors who were with us during the fall, mid-winter, and spring dances are again our guests at Graduation Hop. Graduation Hop is one of mixed emotions. The one this year was no exception. Notwithstanding the School's efforts to make this Hop one of the pleasantest of the season, those of us who were leaving school were beginning to realize too clearly for comfort that Saturday morning, June 6th-just a few hours away-would break many precious associations and send us alone down the paths of our respective lives. If, therefore, our laughter at Graduation Hop was a little casual, perhaps it was because for the first time in our lives we stood on a peak high enough for us to look in two directions--the past and the future. If this sounds sentimental to those who are older, it is Page om' hundred vigbly-six t i ik f!

And now for the piece de resistance! Up f k if i until Saturday evening, February 22nd, 8:30, N. Y. M. A. had been limping along with only five editions of Yea! Furlough to its credit. It is true they were good ones- very good ones, indeed, but for some days before the curtain rung up on the 6th Edition, wise heads bending over dull text books had discreetly whispered that Yea! Furlough No. 6 would be extra It was. Murder In the Core was a big big show, a big success playing to a packed house. All the magic of lights, dazzling costumes, paint, powder, settings, plot, music, spark- ling wit, brilliant talent in the service of gallant men and pseudo-ladies Qveritable flowers of lovelinessb-such was the 6th Edition of Yea! Furlough. But who brought all this to pass? A good neighbor did it for us. We call him neighbor because to us a good neighbor is one who knows the psycho- logical moment to offer a helping hand, one who knows when it is time to play, one who is willing to go-not for a short dis- tance, but the whole way with us. We take this occasion to thank Captain Pattillo for his intelligent comradeship and good entertainment. Was it not Juvenal who said, Nature and Wisdom always say the same ? Hardly had Nature begun to don her spring clothes when the Hop Committee, dusting itself from winter sleep, began announcing the manna of the approaching activity -Mothers' Day Week-end, May lst, an event dedicated to the Mothers and Fathers of the Corps. This was a full week-end. Parades, hops, drills, speeches, luncheons, tea dances, and visit- ing crowded the hours. In addition to the Hop on Saturday, of the Mothers, Day Week-end, a particularly interesting gathering took place on Friday evening when the Senior Class invited the Junior Class to its Ring Dancef' The custom and the dance was a most commendable gesture on the part of the Seniors. It is hoped that this custom, copied from the United States Naval Acad- emy, will become a tradition in our school. Throughout the school year, there occur a number of social evenings. Oftentimes, as we know, many guests are present, and, usually, with us it is the more the merrierng but from time to time there are some special evenings the memories of i t i Page one lJumln'J fight
