' Priscilla Aldon Dick SEQNKJK C L A S5 HI STL P 1 We, the Senior Class of 1958, started our school days twelve long years ago. In the month of September, l9M6, the school room of Mrs. George Newell was filled with sixteen new bright faces. The youngsters were Bill McFerran, Tracy Lewis, Alden Cassity, Barney Russell, John Bunten, Norman Stevenson, Priscilla Himsel, Ruth Young, Carolyn Good, Janice Thomas, Ruby Burgess, Loretta Mendenhall, Billy Vannice, Linda Smith, Billy Rouse, and Mickey Dinsmore. The next year we returned to the same room with a different teacher, Mrs. Carol Brown. We gained Bill Brooks, Edith Carr, and Van Ray Robertson. Our third grade teacher was Mr. Robert Wallace. We added Mary Cole and Jo Ann Martin to our roll call. The year we entered the fourth grade Mr. Ray Harper was our teacher. He tried to add more to our book of knowledge. That year we gained Joe Goodnight The next fall in the fifth grade our teacher was Mrs. Fern Lawson. We added Don Finchum and Martha Rushton to our class. In the sixth grade Mrs. Lawson was again our teacher. Several of our classmates had moved away during the summer, but Bill Dowdy had moved in with us. The fall we entered junior high proved to be one of the greatest events of all our school days. We had to get accustomed to the idea of not having morning and afternoon recesses and going to classes continuously. David Taylor, Susan Johnson, Freda Baxter, Karen Sims, and twins--Buck and Bill Henderson with Mr. Richard Marksbary as our sponsor were our additions. In the eighth grade our sponsor was Mrs. Robert Turner. Harry Durbin, Charlotte Everts, Charles Dowell, Lois Barnhart, harry Thompson, and John Spears all joined us. For eight long years we had longed for high school. At last the great day arrived. All of us survived freshman initiation and even though we thought we were being killed we enjoyed it. We lost a few members of the class, but other than that we had a pleasant beginning in high school. Mrs. Doris Andrews sponsored us that year. The sophomore year began with a good start as we elected as our sponsor, Mrs. Sarah Phelps. We lost quite a few classmates, but we still had sixteen lefte Mrs. Phelps was again chosen as our sponsor in our junior year. We had quite a bit of activity that year trying to make enough money for our senior trip. That year Dick Sunman joined us. Finally our last year arrived. we were quite a busy bunch of pupils attending all the activities, getting the annual and school papers published, and making arrangements for our graduation. At last we reached those longed for days of Baccalaureate and Commencement. But now we were not so anxious to end our years at school. We had had quite a few arguments, but the wonderful memories outweighed the troubles. with the first twelve listed below, this graduation is pretty special-- we started our public school education together and ended together-- Janice Thomas, Alden Cassity, Priscilla Himsel, Barney Russell, Ruth Young, Tracy Lewis, Loretta Mendenhall, John Bunten, Carolyn Good, Linda Smith, Norman Stevenson, Bill McFerran, Susan Johnson, Van Ray Robertson, Harry Durbin, Dick Sunman, B111 Dowdy and Mrs. Phelps.
