A. chapter composed of thirty-two members, has had many inter- esting activities in the past year. During April 1958, every member par- ticipated in the County Livestock Judging Contest in Crawford County. The Soils Judging team, comprised of Ed Heydinger, Larry Pfahler and Paul Hieber won the County Soil Judging Contest. Ed Heyding- er was high judge in the county, and Larry Pfahler was second. In May, the Livestock Judging team was fourth in the four-- county District Contest in competition with twenty-six schools. During June six members, including two PUBLIC SPEAKING Steve Metzger and Larry Pfahler delegates, attended the State F. F. A. Convention at Columbus. The Dairy and General Livestock teams were in the high twelve percent in the State Judging Contest. In competition with approximately nine hundred boys in this contest, Calvin McCarthy was high man in Jersey and Ronald Ferguson was high in Breeding Sheep. Also during June, Ronald Ferguson won both the Shorthorn and Angus Beef Judging Contests. Paul Hieber, Larry Pfahler, and Don Phenicie won eighth place at the annual Here- ford Day Judging Contest in July. In August, Larry Pfahler won first place in F. F. A. Dairy Judging at the State Dairy Day held at the Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station at Wooster. James Pit- zen and Kenneth Studer were sent to F. F. A. Camp Muskingum in Eastern Ohio for a week of fun and activities. November was the month in which they entered a parliamentary procedure team in the county contest. The team received a silver rating. Shortly after Christmas, Larry Pfahler competed in the county and district Public Speaking Contests. He received second in the county and one of four gold ratings in the district, which was held in Shelby. In February, the Livestock Judging team, composed of Larry Pfahler, Ronald Fer- guson, and Calvin McCarthy, won seventh place at the Shorthorn Winter Roundup in Columbus. In March, the same team with the addition of Paul Hieber Won second place at the Little International at Ohio State University. The F. F. A. has also had a pest hunt, sponsored square dances, and competed with other chapters in basketball. They hope to have an F. F. A. banquet for their parents soon. The local F. F. A. Chapter has been very active, and New Washington High School is very proud of them.
