The yearbook staff dedicates the 1988-89 year- book to Coach Matthews. As 19893 SAC Coach of the Year, Jim Matthews led the boys Varsity Mus- tangs to two consecutive sectional victories as New Washington gained a state reputation for great basketball. As our teacher, Mr. Matthews taught us sports basics from bowling and softball t0 ttdo-si-do . Mustang pride, community support, and fan spirit have peaked through the efforts of our coach, teacher, and friend. This dedication is but a small token of the heart- felt thanks of those to whom he has generously devoted his time and energy. We Win Againh For the second time in the history of New Washing- ton, the Mustangs take the sectional. ttBelieve In Love Prom-April 29, 1989 The junior class prom committees met early Saturday morning to transform New Albanyts Grand Theatre into the Taj Mahal. Sure, it looks like fun to run around with a camera, shooting photos of your friends and many students ask to be on the staff. But there is much more than what you see . . . like selling THOUSANDS of dollars of advertise- ments so that the book is affordable to students, I hours of planning headlines and copy that nobody reads, cropping pictures to fit a layout that was due last week, and countless failures in the darkroom. As you look through this book, realize that every picture, word, and white space was planned. Opposite page: Kenny Rush, Editor, Advertisements, Proof Reader Left: Josh Hood Head Photogra- pher, Darkroom Expert Below: Jason Cochran - VOLUN- TEER, Assistant Photographer, Darkroom and Mindy Day Tire- less, Quick Tempered, 8z Usually De- lirious Sponsor. Bottom: Bobbi Jo Cain Advertis- The staff members of these pages re- turned to complete this book. They were conscientious, reliable, responsible and CARED what the final product looked like. Thanks is not enough . . . I 135
