Rated among the states top 20, the Lady Mus- tangs got off to a great seasonal start and never looked back. The experience of returning varsity seniors, Michille Wenning and Angie Ryker pro- vided a strong base for supporting players, Kim, Barbara, Dana, Carol, and Glenna. Applause and recognition greeted track stars, basketball play- ers, and speakers for one reason. They were the best. But along with the honor came sacrifice made in order to spend time prac- ticing to become number one. Senior Troy Powell tabovet finished 3rd at state competition in the high jump, placed 3rd in the regional and tied the sectional record at W314? Troy also holds the school record and confer- ence record for high jump. Freshman Glenna Bower trightt competed at the AAU Junior Olympics in California placing 4th nationally and 3rd in the state in cross country. Glenna holds the girPs school track records of 2:22 in the 800, 5:06 in the 1600, 11:17 in the 3200, and 9,2,, for the high jump. She placed 1st in the 800 at the sectional, tst in the 1600 and 3200 at the regional, and finished 4th at the state meet in the 1600 meter run.
