Students anxiously awaited the first home game and homecoming festivities on Decem- ber 6. Reigning Queen Julie May was escorted by Richie Grimes as the traditional ceremony began. Freshmen Shonna Thompson and Ja- son Walters represented their class; junior nominees Amy Cravens and Kevin Amick fol- lowed sophomores Valerie Bower and Derek Hebner. Senior candidate Janice Bussey and her escort Rusty Holland were introduced last. Third graders Jessica Tinsley and Aaron Hob- son carried the crown. Mighty Mustang takes shape School spirit soared as our new mascot took a place beside the Mustang teams. Kelly Zollman, Ms. Day and selected art students designed and constructed the mascot head from foam and yarn. Ms. Shana Bottorff, a student teacher, sewed and tailored its suit. Seniors Julie May and Barbara Bastian were selected by the cheerleaders to be the personal- ity inside the costume. Right: Once again, Ronnie foils Ms. Ar- cherts attempts to talk about his future.
