M. , Friday, August 30, the front doors of the New Washington High School were once again opened to approximately 250 students, which was an increase over last years enrollment. Almost every one of these 250 students, although not one would admit it, had been anxiously awaiting this moment since May 21 -- three hot, humid months ago. Of this total there were 77 new sparkling Freshmen, who tried desperately to keep out of the path of any- one of the 50 lordly Seniors who just happened to be around every corner, eager to greet them with a hearty, Well, look, another Greenie. The other 115 students were made up of 51 jubilant Juniors who were not to be classified as upperclassmen yet, and 69 eager Sophomores who were still a little shakey but were no longer the little green Freshmen. All were quite busy either trying to relate to others their vacation experiences or about their summer jobs. But the excitement of this year had just begun for there were basketball games, track meetsl parties, and the prom to attend. There were clubs to organize and join. Class officers, monitors, and librarians had to be elected, a basketball queen had to be chosen, and honors had to be presented. Last but by no means least were the long awaited Senior Activities. We had 180 very busy days ahead of us. 5. ... - nmanm. .1. We need EVERYONE'S attention! mngw w r a--1, a--2. a--3 Another Lawrence Welk Bona disiciplina Latini estis. The Senior Class selects the candidates, and all people who buy yearbooks are eligible to vote in the final election. The winners are kept secret until the yearbook comes out in the fall. This year's King and Queen ate Larry Wiggan and Mary Gene Bower. Martha Abbott Connie Steele The Junior-Senior Prom, sponsored annually by the Junior Class, is a tradition at New Wash- ington High School. Highlighting the Prom is the crowning of the Prom King and Queen. They are chosen by the members of the Junior Class. To do this it was necessary for us to depict the element that makes New Washington High -- you, the student. We have attempted to portray you as you want to be remem- bered ten, twenty, or even fifty years from now. We investigated your interests, talents, likes, and dislikes, and tried to preserve them in the pictures contained between the covers of this . . . the 1958 MEMORIES.
