.xdclminiafrafion Dowell Loomis, Harold Allen, Jim Hatcher, Theo Irwin, Al Beckett, Fred Forman. Our ideas of the New Virginia School consist of students, teachers, studies and fun, therefore all too often we forget to include the most important of all, the school board. The school board consists of 7 members. These 7 men are the core of our school system. Without them we could not continue our education. These men serve without monetary reimbursements and much too often receive criticism instead of thanks for their work. They are men who are interested not only in their own children's education but in the education of all young people and in the betterment of their community. This is shown by the fact that 3 of the 7 members have no children in school at the present time. The school board members have various backgrounds and occupations. In a farming community it is only natural that 4 of the members are farmers, 1 an insurance man, l a grocer, and 1 a lum- berman. A These men's devotion to the educational system can be in a small way measured by the length of service each man has given to the school. ' Theo Irwin has been on the board 27 years. Frank Stiffler is now serving his 25th year. This makes James Hatcher's twelfth year on the school board. Harold Allen has been a member for 10 years. Dowe Loomis has been on the board 7 years. Al Beckett and Fred Forman have both served 6 years. At the present time Mr. Hatcher is the President, Mr. Stiffler the Secretary and Mr. Irwin the Treasurer. Mr. Stiffler and Mr. Irwin have held their respective offices since they were elected to serve on the board. For the past eighteen years Superintendent C. O. Lundby has devoted his time, energy and pro- fessional knowledge to the betterment of the New Virginia School and community. His ability as a teacher and administrator and his understanding of students of all ages has made a mark on the lives of each of the students who have attended the New Virginia School. Mr. Lundby came to New Virginia as the principal and coach and has remained since as superi- intendent. During the years Mr. Lundby has taught in many fields. M M Mr. Lundby attended Luther College at Decorah, Iowa and received his degree in chemis ry 3 Iowa University and Drake University. 4 jd--4 Through the years Mr. Lundby has been more than a superintendent and teacher: to :Q-Q ,,'5l 1 :m5'3', he has been a friend willing to give a helping hand, a word of advice, honest criticism, an-'fi,N.'4-Q-1 the back.
