Laughter, good will, games, smiles, songs, and splashes of bright color all play a part in the county fair, an event which in many respects represents the life, work, and entertainment of the American people. The nzany different people working together to make such an event possible are an excellent example of the brotherhood and unity which help make America what it is. Many of us, living as we do in the city, have never had the opportunity to participate in such an event, but this term the students and faculty worked together in an ejfort to bring the atmosphere of the county fair to New Utrecht. We worked hard, but the rewards far over-shadowed our ejjorts because the lessons gained from working together, the pride in our work, and the enjoyment we derived from the results of our ejorts were and will be invaluable to us. We, the graduating seniors, will particularly remember this event because it was tlze last major school activity we had the opportunity to enjoy, and in participating in the county fair we experienced the beginning of what may become a New Utrecht tradition. Because of the spirit associated with it and the fond memories we shall doubtlessly have of it as a part of our high school years, the COMET staff has chosen the county fair as its theme.
