The Garden of Eden has always been symbolic of paradise, a place where man first found happiness, shelter, and protection from the hardships of life. But the years of paradise did not last forever. Man was forced to leave the Garden and make his way in the world. Now we, too, must go out and make our way in the world. Here, as students at New Utrecht, we have found happiness through our work with other people. Although we have had some measure of shelter and protection, we have tried to learn about life, and, through knowledge, to differentiate between good and evil. However, all this knowledge will not be really meaningful unless we actually have experiences to which it can be applied. Those 'of us who have taken advantage of the opportuni- ties of learning to gain a better understanding of people and situations will be pre- pared to meet and solve the problems which will face us-to live harmoniously in the world of today and to contribute freely to the world of tomorrow. We therefore dedicate this yearbook to the hope that each 'of us, about to em- bark on his journey into the world, will someday find his own paradise. H. H. and 1. R.
