In New UTrechT, however, we have one oT Those rariTies. IT would noT be righT To boasT ThaT we have a championship Team in every sporT, because we don'T. BuT whaT school can boasT oT a Sl-TELLY BRODSKY, KENNY BEN- SEN, JACK NET-TAMA, and a JOE BARONE, all in The same graduaTing class? SHELLY BRODSKY, Tor insTance, is a leTTer man on The baskeTball Team and The baseball Team. l-lis baTTing average lasT year was well up in The .400's. ln The balloT- ing Tor The R.S.A,l.. all-sTar baskeTball Team, he did no worse Than make The second Team on every meTropoliTan newspaper. KENNY BENSEN, sTar oT The UTe golT Team, was voTed The ouTsTanding golTer in The P.S.A.L., and is considered The ToremosT high school golTer in The ciTy. JACK NET-IAMA, one OT The mosT TalenTed TracksTers To emerge Trom UTrechT in several years, holds The ciTy championship Tor The low hurdles, and JOE BARONE, anoTher TracksTer, is one oT The mosT consisTenT poinT scorers in The league. The baskeTball Team, which iusT missed The playoTTs by one game This year, also came up wiTh several oTher ouTsTanding players. MARTY Cl-TODROEE, co-capTain along wiTh BRODSKY, led The hoopsTers in Tield goal percenTage, and was among The league's leaders in assisTs. The surprise oT The year was The perTormance oT SANTO MORTILLARO, who because he didn'T Try ouT Tor The Team unTil his iunior year, was able To play Tor The varsiTy Tor only one season, which was a phenomenal one. The bowling Team, in iTs second year oT exisTence, also Took iTs place in The parade oT sTars. JOHNNY ACIERNO, who is one oT The mosT TalenTed keglers in The league, and GEORGE CEEALU led The Team inTo a Tie Tor TourTh place, along wiTh LaTayeTTe. In The swimming deparTmenT, BARRY WEBMAN, MELVTN BARON, and l-TOWIE GOLD were sTandouTs. AlThough There were no meeTs scheduled Toi This year, lasT year They proved invaluable To Mr. MacDaviTT.
