Principal's Message From Where you stand now you may find it a bit difficult to believe but it is nevertheless true that today you are writing finis to the most exciting and important years of your lives-your high school years. We hope that these years have brought you all that you have Wanted and hoped for-all that your parents, your teachers, and your community have tried to give you: a deeper realization of what you Want to do and be, a passionate devotion to our great principles of freedom and democracy, an awareness of your respon- sibilities as citizens of this great and happy land, a respect for the dignity of all people of all races, creeds, and religions. On this We all agree. We have one overriding concern and obligation- to make this World a better place for ourselves and for those who Will come after us. ln this never-ending struggle you must play your part as others before you have played theirs. You must not believe, as some would have you believe, that there is no hope for the future. The glorious achievements of our country and our people are a living symbol of the Wonders our faith and courage and energy have Wrought. There are no hopeless situations. There are only men who have grown hopeless about them. There is much unfinished business for you and for all of us in this beautiful and turbulent World We have inherited. Take your place With those men and Women Who have dedicated themselves to the job of finishing that business so that we all may live in peace, security, and dignity. ABRAHAM H. LASS

Congratulations upon becoming the proud possessor of a high school diploma. You have attained a goal Well Worth striving tor. During the past twelve years, you have followed relatively the same pattern as hundreds ot others in this school. Your Work, in large measure, was closely connected with school activities and events. This concern for and with educational projects will continue for those entering college. For others, the business World, the armed forces, and the home beckons. How- ever, no matter what your choice happens to be, each ot you is rapidly approaching the threshold ot an activity which must not be taken for granted or carelessly lett to others-responsible citizenship in a troubled world, in a World in which momentous decisions must be made it our civili- zation is to continue to exist. The schools have succeeded in teaching our rights as Americans. We have not been as successful in the realization ol our obligations. Recent studies have revealed that tar too many adults alter leaving high school, tend to torget very quickly what they learned as long as it is not directly related to their everyday lite as breadwinners, and tend to shirk their duties as cooperative voting members ot the community. ' Q Let us resolve to retain the attitudes and ideals stressed in the class- rooms and to remain alert, intelligent, humane, considerate ot the Welfare ot others, and, by so doing, achieve happiness and success.
