ia f I Ma Would-be scientists carried their imaginations out of the lab and into the realm of fantasy by participating in the logical insanity of the SCIENCE FICTION CLUB. In addition to holding book dis- cussions and analyses of other science fiction masterpieces, the club showed the movie The Occurence at Owl Creek Bridge at the Halloween party. Mr. Jim Treat sponsored the club, officers were David Lee, presidentg Loren Joseph, vice-president, Meryl Perlman, secretary, and Bob Epstein, trea- surer. ffl- m fI'I', ,,, g ' alsri fffy STUDENT FORUM was the place this year to let off steam. The club met in dis- cussion on subjects ranging from Viet Nam to scientology under the direction of Co-chairmen Peter Creticos, Andrea Berk- son, and Judy Lansing. Other officers were Bob Hoyt, head of book discussiong Joy Fisher and Dave McNelIyg head of films and screens, and Susan Wright and Steven Lukes, heads of publicity. Spon- sors were Miss Darlene Emmert and Mr. Jack Mattox. The talent of the JAZZ ENSEMBLE, a group of 23 musicians directed by student leader Bill Kroeger, prompted Sponsor Mr. Roger Mills to say, The ensemble is without a doubt one of the best around. A proof of this state- ment was their invitation to participate in the Oak Lawn National Jazz Festival contest with 80 other jazz ensembles from across the nation. In this contest they performed for the first time anywhere an original piece, The Professor, by Professor David Baker of Indiana university.
