Dr. Cress, iunior girls' adviser chairman Mr. Clark, junior boys' adviser chairman Neil Meltzer, treasurer Nalanl McCIendon, secretary When the Class of '68 entered NT-W in September, 1965, though, it was not alone. With it came the Class of '69 - West's first freshmen. In the past, they have stood in the shadows of the older class while helping to establish their school. This year, however, the juniors no longer stayed behind the scenes. Many of the announcers heard over WNTH were mem- bers of the Junior class. Three-fourths of the New Trier West News staff were juniors, most of whom held major staff positions there for two years. Two juniors were on the team of three regulars and four alternates who defended West on NBC's lt's Academic quiz show. In sports competition, too, juniors helped the cowboys defend West's name. Most of the second semester Student Council officers and board were juniors. As their float at the Homecoming parade declared: The spirit of '69 is very much alive. The spirit, growing since the Class of '69 entered West, will reach its peak next year. 183
