Students plan- ning an engineering career in college, as well as those not expecting to enter college, will find these courses designed to meet their needs. Mr. Biesemeier heads the department. 14 HEALTH DEPARTMENT 0 The nurses in charge of the health department are Mrs. Katharine Schoenenberger, R.N. and Mrs. Lois Hendrick, R.N. This department has proven through the years its invaluable assistance to the school. The nurses give first aid to any accidents or illnesses that occur during school hours and, also, teach courses in physiology and Red Cross Home Nursing.

?v eign Zangu e SMALL BECKER BRADY BREDIN FOREIGN LANGUAGES DEPT. 0 The foreign language depart- ment, under the head of Dr. Small, offers Latin, German, French, and Spanish. Interest in these subjects is enhanced by the singing of native songs and by learning something of the music and customs of the coun- try. In the Spanish section field trips have been taken to Chicago's Span- ish town. Many more students have taken up foreign languages in view of the coming international relation- ships. Every year this department puts on a Christmas Concert and a Spring Con- cert, in which all choral students take part. There is also an operetta given each year. This year's opera, uThe Gondoliersw by Gilbert and Sullivan, was a great success.
