To- wards this end was the council working when they instituted the new system which has been in effect for the first time this year. Had it not been for the fine job done by the officers, . , - - - , SPOEHR MCNITT Tom Spoehr, President, John McN1tt, Vice-President, Anne UCONOR SAUNDERS CLARKE O'Conor, Secretary, and Dick Saunders, Treasurer, it would WIESE ROCKWELL PALMER LIEPOLD STEIF RITTERSPORN have been impossible to have functioned so successfully this year. These officers were assisted by the following board: Jim Clarke, Secre- tary of Study Halls, Ray Wiese, Service Secretary, Bernard Rittersporn, Assembly Secretary, Jim Palmer and Bob Rockwell, Defense Secretaries, Joan Steif, Social Secretary, Bob Liepold, Publicity Secretary. Under this new plan the thirty-two representatives, eight from each class, are the policy forming group, and the departmental secretaries are COUNCIL COMMITTEES Row 1: Cushman, Drucker, Lapat, Day, Stief, Ringholm, Armstrong, Farrell, Lee, Varde, Knudson, Johnson, Rubel, Johnson, Hale, Evans, Ketcham, Cody, Pagliarulo, Proudfoot. Among the numerous organizations sponsored by the club are the Usher Corps, the information desk boys, door and hall guards, traflic squad, library monitors and the group of senior boys who serve as assistant advisers in the Freshman Boys' rooms. All these students do their jobs unselfishly and with- out much recognition. Mr. F risbie and Mr. Gannaway were of the utmost value and assistance again this year serving in their capacity as sponsors of the Tri-Ship Boys' Club. The council has accomplished much this year. To start out the year the Activities Ticket drive was put on which proved extremely successful. Later came the organization of honor study halls, Freshman Club Day, Halloween Night, and the organization of the club program for the year. The War Department did a wonderful job selling War Stamps and Bonds and under the same department came the airplane identification classes, the key campaign, kits for Fort Sheridan, and the Gym Carnival. Two outstanding events during the spring months were the Gym-Jam and the Hobby Show.
