This is why I say that America's percentage of civic mlnded voters is very small It is about time that the whole country reallzed that in order to get any satisfaction from community affairs, one must attenl town meetings, get up and express his or her opinion, go to dlscusslonsor various'1bj ects and find out where their money is going and to what use it 1S being put The quickest way to 1HSt111 this civic knowledge into people is through a renovated educational system Education must be made more appealing Youth must be made to reallze that cducaflon is an opportunity and not an ord al This will bc done only when townspeople take enough intere t to eo that better schools with more facilities are provided and that teachers whose methods follow the modern turn are employed People must begin to realize that the old complaint of, 'Teach the child en more reading, writing and ar1thmet1c,n obsolete 1 la trend is to supplement thes basic re quiremcnts 11th nstructions on how to be a better cltizen teacblng, I ask you, Nho 15 more lmportant, a person who is a whlz at math but stay home on electlon day, or 1S it the person wlth the CiVlC mlnd who attends the elections, the town mGGt1UgS and diSCHS3lOD on communlty affairs?
