Future Farmers of America The officers for the year are: President. Wayne Stanley: Vice-President, James Wright: Secretary, Robert Day: Treasurer, Connie Turner: Sentinel. Raymond Teague: Reporter, Jack French, and Advisor. Norman Evens. They sponsored a pest drive for the purpose of helping buy F. F. A. jackets. The captains of the teams were Connie Turner and Jerry Harris. Initiation of the Greenhand members was on November 22, 1950. The Chapter is a member of the County F. F. A. organization. Formation of the gilt chain was started by the chapter in June. The gilt was given by Kenneth Bayless, who was awarded an honorary member pin by the chapter. Wayne Stanley was awarded the gilt which he showed in the 4-H division at the County and State Fairs. He received second at the County and seventeenth at the State Fair. Boys' 4-H Club The Sons of the Soil 4-H club consisted of twenty-nine members of which twenty-seven completed. The officers of the past year were: President, Tom Calhan: Vice-President, James Wright: Secretary and Treasurer, James Sabens: Reporter. Wayne Stanley: Recreation Leader and Song Leader. Robert Day. Honors went to James Sabens when he was chosen County 4-H King, he also was awarded the three day trip to the International Livestock Show at Chicago. James Wright attended the Junior Leader's Conference. - The Boys and Girls 4-H won first place in the County Parade on their Banner. The 4-H was under the leader, Mr. Norman Evens. who helped each member very much. Junior Leaders were Wayne Stanley, James Sabens, Charles Radford. James Wright, and Tom Calhan. Girls' 4-H Club The Walnut Willing Workers 4-H Club consisted of twenty-eight members of which thirty- eight completed. The officers were: President, Lois Ludwig: Vice-President. Carolyn Shelley: Secretary and Treasurer, Shirley Harris: Health and Safety Leader, Ruth Stout: Reporter, Phyllis Spangler: Song Leaders, Corenia Frederick and Donna Sue Huffman: and Recreation Leaders, Barbara Stanley and Carolyn Norman. This year we have had many honors given to the girls. Lois Ludwig attended the Purdue Round-Up and received grand champion in the County Dress Revue. She entered in the State Fair and won first place. Josephine Day attended the Junior Leader Conference. Carolyn Shelley went to the Recreation Class held at Crawfordsville. The three day trip to the Inter- national Livestock Show at Chicago was awarded to Ruth Stout. Corenia Frederick, Barbara Stanley, Maureen Huffman, and Caroline Huffman. and Caroline Huffman won honorable mention on their dresses in the County Dress Revue. Jane Huffman received champion in second year clothing and was entitled to enter her dress in the fair. Champion in Room Improvement I was won by Maureen Huffman. Patricia Ludwig and Maureen Huffman won the award of having their dresses sent to the State Fair. Corenia Frederick won the award to send her cup cakes to the State Fair and re- ceived first. There were forty-four blue ribbons, forty-one red ribbons. fifteen white ribbons. one green ribbon. one grand champion, and two champions. Junior Leaders were Ruth Stout. Lois Ludwig. Carolyn Shelley, Josephine Day, Maureen Huffman and Carolyn Huffman. The 4-H Club this year has been well led by Miss Helen Shepherd. who spent much time helping the girls with their projects. E7
