Sunshine Society On September 26, 1950, the Sunshine Society initiated eight new members into the club, making a membership of twenty-seven. The officers for the year are: President, Lois Ludwig: Vice-President, Carolyn Shelley: Secretary, Maureen Huffman: Treasurer, Delores Huffman: and Sponsor, Mrs. Mary Collings. A group of girls attended the Sunshine District Convention at Westfield, October 7, 1950 and the State Convention at New Haven, March 24, 1951. - At Christmas, cheer baskets were delivered to the aged, shut-ins, and needy families. Lois Ludwig, Carolyn Shelley, and Josephine Day, during the summer, attended Sunshine Camp, June Z, through June 10, at Camp Tecumseh. The Sunshine sponsored a bake sale for means of making money. Future Homemakers of America The officers for the year are: President, Dory Huffman: Vice-President, Carolyn Shelley: Secretary, Edna Elkins: Treasurer, Lucille Bailey: Historian, Janis Todd: Parliamentarian, Barbara Stanley: Song Leader, Rosie Fitzwater: Reporter, Ellen Henderson: Recreation Leaders, Irma Dean Paxton and Marie Bymaster: Miss Helen Shepherd is the Chapter Advisor: Mrs. Homer Huffman was elected Chapter Mother: and Mrs. William Henry was selected as the Big Sister. On June 16-17, five girls, Chapter Advisor and Chapter Mother attended the State F.H.A. Convention at Indiana University. , Carolyn Shelley was elected District Historian. Carolyn was able to attend the National Convention at Kansas City, Kansas, June 28 to July 1, and workshop July 31, to August Z, at Indiana University. September 23, 1950, a group of girls attended the district meeting at Butler University. Eleven members were initiated January 24, 1951 into the chapter. A Saint Patrick Party was March 16 in the gymnasium. They are making money by ice cream sales and making doughnuts to sell. Chorus The chorus was under the direction of Miss Mary Carolyn Alston which had twenty-eight members of the four upper grades. The following activities was the program in which the chorus made their appearance: December 13, Christmas Concert: March 13, County Music Festival: Spring Concert: and April 29, Baccalaureate. Band The band is under the direction of Miss Mary Carolyn Alston with twenty-seven members. The following programs: in which the band has appeared are: December 19. Christmas con cert: January 20, County Tourney: March 13, County Music Festival: Spring Concert: and April 30, Commencement. A few band members took part in the Solo Contest, they are: Clarinet Solo, Carolyn Shelley: Saxophone Solo, Josephine Day: Bass Horn Solo, Dale Newton: Joan Haley and Donald Cornet. Awards to Seniors of band 'sweaters were to Lois Ludwig. Ruth Stout, Wayne Stanley, and Dwight Houser. James Sabens received a gold pin for his award. Z5
