CLAIRE SIDELMAN, Secretary SENIOR CLASS History As with each preceding class, the Spirit of New Rochelle High Schooln has grown with us from our first day as sopho- mores to graduation day. For the Class of 1961 this has been an especially remarkable accomplishment in the face of what appeared to be insurmountable obstacles. However, under the guidance of Miss Coons, the faculty, and our class officers the goal of class spirit has been achieved. At the commencement of our sophomore year, our outlook was one which saw school spirit as something exclusive to the juniors and seniors. The five extra hours of sleep made avail- able by the afternoon sessions did not compensate for our losses. Although we felt alone as we began our high school life, under the able leadership of John Seeman, Marjorie Rich- ardson, Lora Buckingham, and Jimmy Siegel, we soon found ourselves integrated with the rest of the school in spirit. Our junior year brought quite a change in extracurricular opportunities as well as in school hours. In addition to joining upperclassmen at football games, dances, and other school PAGE 18 functions, we were able to participate with them as members in school organizations. John Mazzulo headed the slate of officers with Judy Siegel as vice president, Lora Buckingham continuing in the office of secretary, and Carol Yacolucci as treasurer. The highlight of the year was our junior prom, Rhapsody in Blue. This year, as seniors, we were students of a school united in body as well as in spirit. Despite the obstacles posed by an unfinished building, the Class of 1961 has established an out- standing record in scholarship and athletics. In keeping with this record our fine officers were David C-raham, president, Judy Siegel, vice president, Claire Sidelman, secretary, and Carol Yacolucci, treasurer. We, the Class of 1961, upon leaving New Rochelle High School, take with us the spirit which has grown with us as well as the fond memories of our senior prom, Class Day, and Graduation Day.
