The New Richmond Chapter of the National Honor Society was organized on October 25. 1961. with the Charter number of 9878. This Chapter is sponsored by Mrs. Nancy Eddy and was installed by the Milford Chapter of the National Honor Society. The purpose of this Chapter is to create an enthusiasm for SCHOLARSHIP, to stimulate a desire to tender service. to promote Worthy LEADERSHIP, and to encourage the development of CHARACTER in the students.

Donham, E. Simmons. Mrs. Marsh, Adviser; F. Perkins, S. Epply, N. Jones, H. Kuhn. K. Hall, W. Redfield, R. Frey, S. Gilfillen, W. TolintJ. Colonel, Secretary; R. Davis, Vice-President. The primary purpose of the Student Council in the American Secondary School is to p'rovide practical experience in democracy. The Student Council serves as a laboratory in citizenship. The specific purposes of the New Richmond Council are to develop school spirit. help maintain good student-faculty relationships, and to provide a way for students to express their opinion. Our organiza- tion is a member of the Ohio Association of Student Councils, as well as being a member of the Nation- al Association of Student Councils. Doug Colonel, our president, also serves as secretary-treasurer of the Eastern Hills League. This year Council members voted to become a part of the Greater Cincin- nati Area Council. Meetings are held Weekly during Activity Period on Friday. Our representation is based upon the number of students in each class plus an elected representative from each school club and organization. The New Richmond Council was founded by Mr. Alva Thompson. He was followed by Mr. Charles Oetzel, Mr. Robert Fanto, and Mrs. Jane Marsh. our present adviser.

Whitt, B. Hensley, S. Goldbach, R. Boys. Four years ago, a Debate Club was added to the extra-curricular activities of New Richmond High-School. Each year the club has improved. This year the Debate Club has been most successful, winning debates from schools such as; St. Xavier, Matiemont. Taylor, Covington Latin, and many others. Besides having an excellent varsity team, New Richmond has also a very promising freshman team. The debate topic for this year is-Resolved: The Federal Government should equalize educational opportunities by means of grants to the states. With the debate season coming to a close, New Richmond has every hope of winning the district tournament. COMPLIMENTS OF A FRIEND
