Many times they could have given up with despair, but they did not; and because of this we will leave New Richmond High with a sense 01' te'sborlsibility for our own personal goals and those of our country. This is done by actually electing and running a government for ten days. Buckeye Girls' State was held on the Cagital University campus during the month Of June. The trip lasted eight days, during which the 1041' citizens were instructed on the functions of city, country, and state-govemment. The season wasn't successful as far as record goes. Almost all starters of last year's team had graduated, leaving only four lettermen. Starting freshmeh and sophomores in many positions was . therefore necessary. The Lions played their second best offensive game of the season while losing the opener to Lock- land. The Lions didn't seem to recognize their potential in that game and lost many good scoring chances. The team played its best team against home-coming opponent Indian Hill. Except for two or three mistakes they might have won. The remainv ing games were lost in a big way. In the best game of the season, the Lions defeated Felicity in the muddiest game in New Richmond history. Our cheering section remained loyal, thanks to the efforts of the cheerleaders. Bill Tolin, Captain. led the team and was a mainstay on defense. rmzoron QCOU H Ow WEI: U Doug, four year letterman, 1861 the Bob, two year letterman at end, was team in scoring. the leading receiver. Captains Colonel and Kuhn Though most of last seasons' starters were lost by gradua- tion, the team made a surprisingly good showing with a 12-6 record and a tie for third place in the Eastern Hills league. The team relied on balanced scoring, a tight defense, and a tip out fast break to win most of the contests. Kuhn, Spears. and Hodges carried most of the scoring load in the first half of the season, but Colonel, Davis. and Beckley picked up the slack and came on strong the second half of the campaign. Kuhn and Beckley's scoring and rebounding earned them a place on the E. H. L. A11 League Team. Senior Players Ace Davis hit five for six against Jeffer Kuhn scored 21 points in Madeira and six for SEWER against four consecutive games to earn DSPOFFGS to earn his name. the All-League recognition he got. Senior Cheerleaders Margaret Hammers high voice could be heard every moment of every game. Duke Colonel had his big moment of glory in the Milford game when he hit a long shot to send the game into overtime and hit another long one to win it.
