The cheerleaders made a schedule of events for the week consisting of the different costumes for each day. On Friday of Spirit Week, prizes are awarded to the outstanding costumes, and the traditional spirit stick is awarded to the most spirited class. Rogue visited New Prairie during the fall to provide an outstanding concert for the Student body. The band, led by singer Kevin Brooks, left the students screaming for more, and not wanting to go back to class. But, of course, they were sent back to class by president of the senior class, Brian Wil- liamson. A well-deserved break. The 1981 musical was one which will be long remembered. One change, holding the musical in the spring instead of the fall, helped the choir by giving them more time to rehearse for their winter and fall concerts. Although the student body did not see the musical at school like they have always done, many attended the evening shows, and they were surprised by the excellent comedy and acting which were the strong points in this well-performed show. 68 Jud Tolmen. Speaker Billy Walker gives a moving speech. 124-Graduation Graduates await their turn to receive their diploma. The final part of graduation is when the graduates move their tassels. Graduation-125 1981 Class Night Thirteen years of school is like a baseball game. I do not mean that you are going to strike out, but that the similarities and feelings are very closely related. The first similarity is when you enter kindergarten. Kindergarten is like stepping up to bat for the first time and seeing the pitcher wind up and buzz the ball past you. It is very scary, and all you want to do is to get out of the batter’s box so that you can sit down. Then after you graduate from kindergarten and enter the first grade, you feel about the same as you would when you get a base hit. It is nothing great, but you did get on base. When you have graduated from first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades, you enter junior high school. BOY! This is the big time! Now you feel the same as you would if you were to get a double. The feeling is great because you know you had to work hard to get a second. After graduating from seventh and eighth grades, you enter your freshmen year of high school. Now you feel that you have the world by the tail; you are beginning to become an adult and have more responsibilities on your shoul- ders especially after moving out of the old junior high school and into the more modern high school. Your feeling now are similar to getting a triple. A triple is about the biggest achievement a batter could get besides a home run, because it has to be a hard hit ball and you have to really be moving in able to make it to third safely. Now comes your senior year. You are on the top of the world now; all your hard work and studying is behind you and all that you have to do is make a decision on what you want to do. Your feelings at this time are similar to those if you are in a championship game that you are losing, and the score is seven to four with the bases loaded and a full count with two outs. You know that you have to get some kind of a hit in order for your team to have a chance. You take one last look at the coach for your signal; then you step into the batter’s box and wait for the pitch. The pitcher is winding up; he throws the ball; it is a meat pitch. ” POWH You stand in the box watching the ball go; the center fielder is going back, back! HEY! HEY! It's a home run!!! This is where we are now. We are seeing the ball go over the fence. Now what we have to do is to make it around without triping and falling on our faces. Will we? -BRIAN WILLIAMSON.
