l George Ray Miss Hall graduated from Indiana University and taught in Bruceville Bloomington Windfall and Sharpsville before coming to New Point School in 1939 She teaches Mathematics and Typing In addition to this she is the Senior class Beacon and Sunshine sponsor Miss Hall is also our school treasurer Joseph Gwxnnup 'ff' Our principal, Mr. George Ray came to New Point School in the year of 1951. Mr. Ray graduated from high school in Eng- lish, Indiana. He holds a B.S. degree and a M. S. degree in Education from Indiana State Teachers College, and an L. L. B. degree from La Salle Extension University. He also attended Purdue, Butler, and Indiana Universities. Mr. Ray has held teaching positions at Remington, Marocco, Crawfordsville, Richmond, and Hammond, administrative po- sitions in Dubois, Posey, Jasper, and Decatur Counties, and in Illinois, Mr. Ray has also been Dean of Men and Professor of Education and Social Studies at Vincinnes University. In addition to his administrative duties here Mr. Ray teaches English History Geometry Psychology and Government We are very proud of the things Mr Ray has done to improve our school and to make it a very successful school Mr Ray has also attended the University of Denver at which institution he expects to complete the work for the Doctor of Education degree in 1955 Juanita Hall Mr Gwinnup was discharged from the army in December of 1953 and decided to come to New Point this year to teach He graduated from New Salem High School in 1947 and went to Franklin College to graduate with an A B Degree in 1951 He is teaching history health and is our boys physical education teacher Mr Gwinnup is the Junior sponsor and also sponsor of our Annual 6 1 1 r 1 9 ' Y I r ' 1 9 - Q . Mrs. Witsaman came to New Point School in 1953. She graduated from high school at Rome City, lndiana. She attended Purdue and Indiana Universities, graduating from the latter ' with a B, S, degree, and has done graduate work at Purdue. Mrs. Witsaman teaches physical education and English. She is V , . A, also the Sophomore sponsor. Mary Alice W tsaman 'W Mrs Sherfey holds degrees from De Pauw University and Jordan College of Ixlusic She taught at Bainbridge Moores ville Greenwood Waldron Milroy and Jackson Township in Indiana and at Kingston South Carolina before coming in 1951 to New Point She teaches music and art Garnett She fey continued from page 3 Since 1922 over 425 students have graduated from New Point I-ligh School and entered many fields of endeaw or Plans were made to add a cafeteria elass rooms and to enlarge and better equip all the trustee and his advisory board Early in 1953 plans were presented to the building committee for their approval After much studying and debate the plans were accepted and the go signal was given The new addition was built at a cost not to exceed S50 O00 The contract was awarded to William Westpezer of Batesville Work continued during the winter and summer but not until November of 1954 was the building ready for use We were able to use the new Commercial department and the Homemaking department Equipment was slow in arriving and State inspection of the cafeteria caused its delay Our cafeteria has some of the finest equipment that can be obtained The lunches are prepared byMrs Agnes Durbin and Mrs Louice Thackery lt is served by the high school girls with the help of our cooks A girls organization known as the Sunshine Society 1S very active in the school Through their efforts they have made it possible for the school to have many fine pieces of equipment Athletics play a very prominent place in our school Organized teams in the Senior High and Junior High represent the school in basketball softball and volleyball 8 f fa x ei' A' x y g W D xt . ly ' ' l . , i I' ' ' ' .
