JOHNS JET-CRETE CO, CLASS HI TORY At the New Parts Hrgh School statron at 8 00 A M August 2'7 1954 the tram whrstled the conductor shouted All Aboard' and 45 freshmen were on the way The trarn was engtneered by Drck Htbschman Steve Mrshler Marcra Wrse and Darlene Gall Mr Rex Mtller and Mrs L G Juday were our supervrsors On the ftrst lap of the tr1p was 1n1t1at1on and a party rn the gym On the second lap we had a treasure hunt Then we rounded the flrst curve and we weren t green freshmen anymore In the fall of 1955 we donned charcoal grey and prnk sweaters on the thtrd lap Those left behrnd were Rolland Gongwer Mrke Hoover Pat Maust Yolanda Mtller and Alma Schmucker The new people prcked up along the way were Pat Marttn Sandy Worttnger and Paul Carrol We were engmeered thrs year by Steve Mrshler Ron Kerlrn Lrnda Weybrrght and Judy Mrshler Our supervrsors were Mr Lloyd Harrell and Mrs Adnan Weybrrght We enJoyed a werner roast and hayrrde then moved on to the fourth lap rn whtch we went swlmmrng at the Y M C A At last we rounded the second curve and we were half way through our Journey As we started once more rn September of 1956 we were led by Steve Mrshler Ron Kerlln Darlene Gall and Judy Mrshler This year we had Mrs Juanrta Hughes Mr Wtlmer Hettler and Mrs Wtlltam Warble as supervrsors Those we had left behind were Dorrs Comstock Sharon Lantz Herbert Neff Ileta Neff Stanley Weaver Paul Carrol and Janet Smrth Ken Wagner appeared as a new member We encountered rn the ftfth lap many magaztne subscrtptrons to be sold We accomplrshed that Job wtth Kathy Weldy and Jrm Neff as top sellers The brg event of the year was recervtng our rrngs wtth the stardust pattern on them On the srxth lap we gave the play Clementtne And last of all to honor the Senrors Rhapsody rn Blue We were then roundlng the thtrd curve and started on the flnal stretch of our Journey Between the srxth and seventh laps we went swtmmtng at the Smoker Cottage and had a bake sale On September 3 1957, as we came upon the seventh lap, we were sttll engmeered by Steve Mtshler, also Drck Hrbschman Jantce Fervtda, and Dorothy Warble Mr Wrlmer Hettler who was sttll wtth us as supervtsor was Jorned by Mrs Vtolet McColley and Mrs Manford Wtse Those whom we ptcked up at the last stop were Janrce B1zzar1, John Hollrnger and Mrke Lamb We came upon JorJ soon after enterlng thrs lap and were told to smrle and say cheese Then came many annual subscnpttons to be sold We also gave the play, Down to Earth In the erghth and ftnal lap of our tram Journey we had the annual Ftsh Fry We were tn Waslungton D C for four days But best of all, was when we left the tram and marched down the arsle, tn blue and whrte gowns wtth pmk carnauons, to recerve the much worked for drplomas As we agarn board a tram, the t:ra1n of l1fe, we want to remember our motto, The drffrcult, now the rmpossrble, later Sharon Metzler Sponsor WIDUP TEXACO SERVICE 6 8a 15 WIDUP TEXACO SERVICE 6 8r 15 n - - - 1 o u u N .Q . . . . 1 - . , 9 n - . . . . . . . SIDING NEWS PRINTING CO, , Goshen BASKETBALL We started om' basketball season November 1 1957 wrth a bang by defeating Wakarusa '74 59 Jim Neff was high scorer for the Cubs with 23 pomts On November 8 the Cubs traveled to Mrllersburg where we lost a hard fought game 70 '73 The scoring for us was well balanced but the Cubs couldn t get started early rn the game We then played the Goshen Redskrns on November 15 1n the Concord gym and defeated them 60 56 Tlus was the Redskrns first opening game defeat in 8 years Our next game was on November 22 wrth the Bnstol Prrates The Cubs Jumped off to a 6 18 first quarter lead and kept rt all the way The final score was 71 53 wrth scor1ng for the Cubs well balanced Ron Brookms had 19, Bob Miller 18 and Jim Neff 13 On November 26, we had our second home game wrth Jefferson Trgers They found the Cubs too tough wrth Brookins scor1ng 24 pornts and Neff 17, to lead the Cubs to the1r thrrd w1n, 78 53 We then took a tnp on December 6 to Jrmtown and found the game to be a tougher battle than the Cubs had expected It was double overtlme but we finally came out on top 52 50 Our next game was w1th Mrlford TroJans at home on December 13 Mrlford led at the ftrst quarter then the Cubs came back to go ahead by one point at half nme Then the Cubs took fire with a fmal score of 62 42 D1ck Hrbschman lead the team in scor1ng wrth 15 pomts The last game fore Chrrstmas was with the Wakarusa Indians.
