We are traditionally supportive of the individualistic spirit and acheivement. We recognize, glorify, and award individuals in sports, arts, and academics. Ultimately it is the individual acheivement which n't? approve that contributes to the strength of our society. There are countries in this world where individual acheivement does not receive similar accolades. For the most part, individual acheivement is subjugated to group gains. I do not propose one way as better than the other. I can only suggest as you achieve as an individual you will remember ivt? are ultimately dependent upon generations to come, groups of friends and families, and our country. A society which recognizes individual acheivement and where in turn the individual seeks betterment for the group achieves the best of both worlds. We hope as a school we have contributed to this sense of cooperation. Sincerely. FI. Kenneth Salenger High School Principal High School Administration Mr. H. Kenneth Salenger. Naso David Rinaudo, in his physical presence, is no longer with us. but in spirit he will always be here. David was a very unique individual who had his own style and character. He carried a smile with him wherever he went. He was known for living up each day and having the best of times. Whenever you were upset. David was there to help you out and cheer you up. He knew what happiness was all about, and he spread it through the lives of many people. David was an easy-going person and had a sense of humor which made everyone feel so comfortable whenever they were with him. Ho matter what you did or where you went with David, you always had a great time. Those who were lucky enough to be his friend, knew how special he was. David is gone. There's nothing we can do to bring him back. We all feel deserted and helpless. All we can do is carry his memories with us. his smile, his good nature, and his unique style. Remember Bobo for what he was Along with many people. I want to thank him for being a part of my life and meaning so much. We love and miss you David! 24 Senior Class History When we entered New Paltz High School as freshmen it seemed like paradise compared to the Middle School. U t’ had open Study Halls, a juke box, and soda machines. These things have since ceased to exist, yet we still leave the school in a little better shape than when we entered. During the time our class has been a part of N.P.H.S., the school has experienced some of its greatest lionors-of which we contributed greatly. Our athletic teams have been incredible. The girls' track team won the league title and held it for several years. In our Junior year, the football team clenched the league title as did the soccer team for the first time in New Paltz history. The wrestling team continued its five year reign as league champions. The gymnastics team preformed outstandingly and won the I9S0 sectionals; while the boys basketball team went to the sectionals for the first time in years. After four years of hard work, the Volleyball team finally took the crown in our Senior year. We not only brought atheletic talent to N.P.H.S.. but also theatrical and musical talent as well. The Band and Choir flourished under the musical direction of Mr. Grasset and Mrs. Bagley. Many theatrical productions were grand successes and exposed some exceptional talents. Productions such as Up the Down Staircase. America Hurrah. Guys S Dolls. Music Man. and U S A. boasted ourartistic talents. Not only was the school successful during our time here, but so were we. We started off with a magazine drive which began our fund raising career. We had a minor set-back in our Sophomore year (remember the candy drive?), which ivt’ more than made up tor in our Junior year with the innovative Antique Show. All of this hard work paid off when we had the best prom in years. We have indeed made our mark on New Paltz High School in many different ways. But it has equally made its mark on us. We shall never forget the times we ve made and shared here at New Paltz High. 25 Theresa Ackert Daniel Ale Marc Alexander Shelly Anderson Frederick Ashton Jennifer Avery 26 Margaret Bagley Julia Barrett Lisa Barry Laura Bartow Darlene Benjamin 27 Yael Bloom Michael Boulos Michele Brooker 28 Jennifer Christie Michael Cinquemani Carolyn Clarke Elisa Dannemann Charles Davis Frank DeCapua Andrew DeGaust Lisa DeMaria Dinah Decker Trudy Dillard Thomas Doucette Julia DuFour Susan Dunlop Matthew DuBois Elizabeth Donahue John DeSimone Timothy Donovan Richard Drosdowich 30 Bonnie Eisenhardt William Esser Nancy Elliot 31 George Fischer Elizabeth Fisher Lisa Foley Theresa Gibbons Thomas Gray Joseph Grotzer Linda Haight 32 Amanda Humbaugh 33 Charles Ingrassia Ellen Kelley Michael King 34 Thomas Laulen Desiree Leemets Daniel LeFevre Jeffrey Logan Marielle Maloney Christopher Marx 35 Barbara Michel Patrick Morris Connie Montemorano Michael Mulhearn Vicki Naso Carole Nostrand Christopher Moriello Andrea Nemerofsky 36 Kathleen Otis Janet Perrotta 37 Martin Pi del Victoria Potts Edward Quinn Daniel Rechen Robert Robinson JoeI Ronk Lynn Rock Robert Rosner Margaret Rogers Morgan Rothbard 38 Bruce Rutherford Hopi Salomon Johannes Sayre David Schappe Eric Sample David Schnell 39 Laurel Schnitzer Susan Schiff Jacki Scott Terri Scribner Andrew Sendall Gregory Smith Todd Snyder Cathy Snyder Kenneth Solaas Paul Strothenke Jeff Swinbourne Jeannine Tantillo 40 Catherine Thorpe Michael Tocci Meg Torraca Lisa Vantine Bartlett Wagner Stacey Wahrendorf Andres Wellington Mark Wilson Tammy Wilson Suzanne Wing Patricia Wells Richard Wilson A llyson Winters «2 Ellen Wood Thomas Wright Lisa Yeaple Duane Hall Mary Blair Noah Claudia Custodio Who’s Who The following people were voted the epitome of certain qualities by their classmates, the class of '82. but are not pictured on these pages. When thinking of style one thinks of hair style, style of speaking, architectural style, style of living, etcetera. The king of style that first enters most people's minds is style of dress, fashion. Girls and guys at N.P.H.S. are certainly influenced by the latest fashions nation- and world- wide. After all. who can ignore the preppy and metallic waves that are sweeping the U.S. Regardless of what happens to be going out there in the world of high fashion. New Paltz kids always seem to develop a fashion sense that is all their own. We dress the way we want to dress, and we look great! Some examples of New Paltz High-Fashion are pictured at right.
