HUGUENOT 1979 ADMINISTRATION FACULTY SENIORS PROM UNDERCLASSMEN SPORTS CLUBS ADVERTISEMENTS CLASS HISTORY TRICENTENNIAL BOARD OF Mrs. Sally Rhoads Mrs. Adelaide Reynolds Mr. Michael Theis EDUCATION 'Dear Seniors: 'To be free Is still the most desired «oal of graduates. However, the achievement of freedom is identical with the full realization and Implementation of one's activities. We hope that the environment of our schools has been fertile soil for your development and subsequent achievement of freedom. If it has, then we can be assured of future generations of free individuals. Sally M. Rhoads, President of Your Board of Education l)r. Bari Wagner Dr. Herman Walker 2 CENTRAL ADMINISTRATION The success of a free society consists first in the maintenance of the symbols of that society, and secondly, in the fearlessness of revision. Those societies which cannot combine reverence for their symbols with freedom of revision will ultimately decay. May you never be silenced, intimadated, or subverted, lest in a matter of time all of your other liberties will disappear . robert j. McCarthy Dr Robert J. McCarthy. John Ferrante, who was voted as ‘Most Friendly’ in his graduating year of 1977, was killed at the age of 19. People aremember him as a guy that was always smiling. He was a friend, a shoulder to cry on, but most of all, he was full of love. I can never remember John without a sparkle in his eyes and a nice word to say about someone. It seems unkind that God took away someone who was loved by his friends and family, but John was called to go away to some place where everyone is happy and there is no pain. John understands the sorrow and discontentment we feel for him and he hears what we say to him as we talk to him from our inner prayer. But for most of us, John leaves wonderful and warm memories in our hearts. His family can only say they loved him; his friends can say they were glad they knew him. John shared his life and love with many of us, and even though we feel sorrow and hurt, we will always have memories of the time we had with John.” M. H. B.O.C.E.S. SPECIAL ED. VlGreaiZl, American FOOD STORES MawPaltx. 1S3 In the fall of '75, we entered New Paltz High as scared Freshmen. As we copied Coach Ford’s diagrams, we dreamed ol money. Those dreams become reality as we produced $800 in our magazine drive . . . As Sophomores we picked flowers and pricked fingers with “Fronz”. That year we sold pens and washed cars. We had our Ring Dance on Friday the 13th, but all went well for us and Junior year brought the championship in football. We struggled with trig and had a Spaghetti dinner, making enough money to have a “super fine” prom to the strains of “The Fong and Winding Road , suffering through umpteen Rcgentses . . . Senior year brought Advanced English and college accepances. We had a Ziti Dinner and a Talent Show and were the first class to play in the Exceptional Seniors Football Game. We sold flowers and went skiing before the mid-winter blahs became Senioritis. Now awaiting Graduation, we complete plans to depart and go our separate ways, remembering forever these fun-filled days. Written by Beverly Atkins PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE NEW PALTZ 3001h ANNIVERSARY Last year, (1978), New Paltz celebrated the three-hundredth anniversary of its settle-banks of the Walkill and started the beginning of New' Paltz. The dwellings of these settlers have been restored, reconstructed and carefully preserved and furnished and landscaped in a sincere effort to create a living history of the early settlement of this small portion of this great country.
