To the Class of 1978: Many individuals know how to work hard; others know how to play well; but it is a unique individual who possesses the ability to introduce elements of playfulness into his or her work, and is likewise able to put constructive labor into his or her leisure. Should you be able to achieve such a balanced equation in your own lives, you will indeed be considered unique. I wish you all manner of success in achieving this balanced equation. It would be my hope that the spirit that is seen in the Class of 1978 will not die with your graduation.
