In the fall of 1974, we anxiously and uncertainly entered our probationary year at New Paltz High School. We awoke each morning to the booming tone and “rocking” escapades of Mr. Campbell. We survived English 2600 and “Tom Brown’s School Days”. We sold “Class of ’78” T-shrits and “Ralphs” in our very successful magazine drive, thus establishing the richest class to pass through these halls in many years. In the spring we raised on Humanities Day and scheduled courses for our . . . ... Sophmore year which we “kicked off’ by taking the J.V. Football U.C.A.L. championship. We ran the great race and sponsored a talent show where “Chiquita Bananas and aspiring musicians abounded. At the close of the year we ordered rings and had a fun picnic at Low Falls. Academically, it was a year for geometry proofs and sheep’s eye dissections in Biology lab.. The next fall, now mighty juniors, we exploded into school with bomb scares. At the Halloween dance we paraded as Devils, sleepy children and African tribesmen. By mid-year we had organized to support Mr.Salenger when his tenure was in question. We backed a basketball team with a combined two year record of 0 and 34. So many teachers were expecting babies that we thought the school would turn into a maternity ward. We held our incredibly successful 1st annual Gong Show where George inflated and the “Plantation 3” performed Finally we had enough money for our Junior Prom. It was held at the Capri 400 and music was by the “Womblers”. We watched the sunrise and returned home just in time to spend the day at Lake Minnewaska, picnicing, swimming, getting sunburned and falling asleep. Our Senior year and 2nd annual Gong Show Finally arrived. Some of us flourished in American History and some selected to take it easy as check-ins and check-outs. We sold cards, elected Kings and Queens, and put together this yearbook. Now, as we approach our long-awaited graduation, we look again, anxiously and uncertainly toward .... tomorrow.
