Robert J. McCarthy A MESSAGE FROM OUR SUPERINTENDENT To the Class of 1977 May you as individuals and as members of a world community continually strive for the ideal, the sacred, the good. Seek to quicken the sense of public duty. Respect the rights of others. Obey just laws and change the unjust by lawful means. If you do these things, you will change the world, making it better and more beautiful than when you entered it. In my first year as your Superintendent, in my visits to your classes, at your sporting events and concerts, and as I have seen you in New Paltz, I have come to feel and believe that you possess the ingredients for greatness. Robert J. McCarthy BUSINESS MANAGER Frank Hamilton 18

Barbara Greenwald A MESSAGE FROM OUR ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL to the Class of '77 Graduation from high school was, as I remember it, a bittersweet and rather intense experience. During the months just before and after commencement, time seemed divided into two huge compartments, the future and the past, and these were connected by a tiny, hyphen-like present. Occasionally a sense that the future was actually about to happen provided sheer exhilaration; sometimes, as the safety and familiarity of home and school seemed to recede into the past, it brought sadness and a feeling of loss. In between, there were more moderate moments for remembering, for dreaming, for reflecting, for planning, for painful departures or exciting arrivals. Observation leads me to believe that you as members of the Class of 1977 are sharing much the same experience. It is now your turn to complete this experience, as have graduates before you, by testing your own capacities and seeking your own truths. We at New Paltz High School have tried to assist you in enhancing those capacities and in illuminating those truths. It is therefore with special warmth and pride that we wish you a stimulating and satisfying journey into your future. It's got me!!!
