It is a group that sponsors students from other countries to visit the U.S. and for U.S. students to see other countries. New Paltz has hosted students from many countries; France, Sweden, and Argentina to name a few. This year our student is Rudi from Denmark. In 1976 Judy Hanes went to Turkey. Becky Hillestad went to California on a domestic exchange. 12

SAC Youth in Government gives high school students a chance to learn the workings of our government. There are 2 parties, United and Freedom. The parties meet to hold platform conventions nominating coventions, then elections are held. Eric Rhien is the United party nominee for Ulster county treasurer. Option 2 provides learning by doing, not just sitting in a room. Under the direction of Marc Kamin, New Paltz High School students are gaining experience for what may be future careers. Taylor, A. Snider. Earth Committee The Earth Committee is a group of students concerned about ecology. Although they don't operate the recycling center any more, they are busy with other things. The 3000 water sample was tested and a party given. The group also purchased a microwave meter for testing microwave ovens. 13
