TO THE CLASS OF 1975: DR. JAMES E. HICKEN Superintendent of Schools Throughout the years you have been in high school you have been witness to the weaknesses and foibles which can occur in a free society when those agencies responsible for the maintenance of that society go unwatched and unchecked. You have also seen that our system has at least the capability of cleansing itself. In order for this process to work it is necessary that each American have the capacity for analysis and that he care. We hope that you have acquired, here in New Paltz, the skills you will need to contribute to our society. Moreover, we hope that you have acquired a caring attitude. Join us now, as you leave high school, to protect the heritage which is ours. Join us as we work together to leave the world a little better place than we found it. The past is prologue.
