TO THE CLASS OF 1975: DR. JAMES E. HICKEN Superintendent of Schools Throughout the years you have been in high school you have been witness to the weaknesses and foibles which can occur in a free society when those agencies responsible for the maintenance of that society go unwatched and unchecked. You have also seen that our system has at least the capability of cleansing itself. In order for this process to work it is necessary that each American have the capacity for analysis and that he care. We hope that you have acquired, here in New Paltz, the skills you will need to contribute to our society. Moreover, we hope that you have acquired a caring attitude. Join us now, as you leave high school, to protect the heritage which is ours. Join us as we work together to leave the world a little better place than we found it. The past is prologue. Let us walk together into the future. Good fortune to you in all that you pursue. Sincerely, Dr. James E. Hicken, Superintendent of Schools ADMINISTRATION (1. to r.) DR. ROBERT E. BENNETT, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction;.DR. JAMES E. HICKEN, Superintendent of Schools; and MR. FRANK A. HAMILTON, Assistant to the Superintendent for Business. 6

A Message From Our Principal MR. H. KENNETH SALENGER TO THE CLASS OF 1975: How have we helped you? In some cases you have been successful and we have reinforced your belief in yourself. In other cases we have led you to realize frustration. And in still others, we have, unfortunately, subjected you to failure. It is evident, that you who have experienced success enter society with anticipated positive outlooks, and you should. However, those graduates who have had a greater measure of frustration and failure need not anticipate any less of a positive outlook. Life, out there, provides no guarantees based upon school success or failure. It is impossible to predict. Hence, your successes, your frustrations, your failures should all be learning experiences from which you continue to grow. That's really what life is about; I hope we have helped. Sincerely, H. Kenneth Salenger High School Principal 7
