ANDREW BIVONA, President Board of Education TO THE CLASS OF 1974: Four years ago a the start of your high school career, you began construction of a foundation of education that you hoped would prepare you to meet the requirements needed for your future endeavors. Now, at your Commencement, you are beginning anew as a competing, contributing member of society. It is our earnest hope that the experiences you have had have equipped you with the ability to solve oftimes perplexing problems, assume new responsibilities, and face new challenges. In you rests the hope for the building of a better world. May success and personal fulfillment be your reward. Mrs. Andrew Bivona President Board of Education Education MRS. R. ORDWAY MR. J. PRICE MR. B. WAGNER 7 Pleasure is the flower that fades; remembrance is the lasting perfume boufflers ' SSk - ■KB DR. JAMES E. HICKEN TO THE CLASS OF 1974: Very soon now you will be leaving New Paltz High School. It is a place where, for the last four years, you have learned, made friends, shared happy moments and sad ones. Your teachers have tried not only to impart subject matter to you, they have served as counselors and friends; people dedicated to helping others work their way through the process of entering and coping with a less than perfect world. You have been called a generation in search of a future. You are entering a world of frustration, anxiety, and fears for what tomorrow might bring. Through it all, however, this world can be a lovely place. The view simply depends upon the point of view. As Walter Hagen, known more for his golf than his poetry, once put it: You pass this way just once Never hurry Never worry And don’t forget to stop and smell the roses. Go out, then, and face the challenges, the victories, and the defeats which will confront you. Try to right the wrongs. Try to put things in order. Struggle if you must. But, above all — don't forget to stop and smell the roses. Dr. James E. Hicken Superintendent of Schools A frl HmOufrPtiUJCtp( DR. ROBERT E. BENNETT TO THE CLASS OF 1974: Time passes quickly, and soon you will have completed your four years of secondary education. While they have been creative and inspiring years in your total educational experience, your learning has only begun; it never ceases. As you go through life, it is our hope that we have engendered inquisitive minds that will always seek new answers to solve new problems in coping with an ever-changing environment. On behalf of the faculty, we wish you much success and happiness as you journey along the road of life and hope that your dreams of today will be fulfilled in the future of tomorrow. Dr. Robert E. Scared Freshmen maybe, but nothing held us back. Sophomore year and we kept going. We had a Hop The Night of the Jonquil that was a huge success. The year of 72-73 and we were Juniors. A lot of hard work was put into bake sales and a delicious spaghetti dinner, to make money for our prom. The prom Imagine finally came on May 12, 1973. Held at Mohonk, it was a great affair never to be forgotten. We, the Class of Seventy-Four, are Seniors now. We showed our spirit with our float in the Homecoming Parade. The Senior Ball, held on February 16, 1974, was a grand happening at the Capri. On to Washington in May for our class trip and fun for all! Seventy-one, seventy-two, seventy-three and seventy-four are behind us forever. Four years of memories, and great ones at that! 53 Jouuo Piottu 56 %% OuMn Peggy King Pete i A David t-laigld V Nancy OsSMin RvdpkCckobevt Wl 's Who' MOST POPULAR Loretta and P. J.
