The class of '53 launched into it's second year at New Paltz High School by electing their of- ficers. George llillham was elected President. Ralph Clearwater. Vice-President, and Theresa Power, Secretary-Treasurer. One of the most important events of this year was our Sophomore Hop, with Sadie Hawkins Day as our theme, This time the girls asked the boys to the dance which helped make it a big night of square and round dancing. The Sophomores showed their skill at winning games, when we took second place at the Halloween Party. After the first few months of school had passed quickly by we found ourselves planning the Holi- day decorations for our room. Although our class did not win first prize. for decorations, we won honor' able mention for our theme, which was HYe Olde English Room. Among many other sports undertaken by the members of our class, the girls' basketball team has really done an outstanding job this year. Since the beginning of our Sophomore year we have taken an active part in the clubs and other organizations of our school. lllany of the girls and boys took a part in the Christmas Pageant which was an exceptionally fine musical event. The class is grateful for the guidance of two advisors. Kliss Wiilson and lllr. Bayer.
