:in p f ®lee Club Our ranks have been more than doubled this past year. As a complete group we sang at the May Festival, in Assembly, and at the Spring Conference at Marlboro. We will help give the seniors a royal send-off at graduation. A large select group prepared a varied program of songs for the Annual Competition Festival. A smaller group, consisting mostly of Juniors and Seniors, participated in the N.Y.S.S.M.A. All State Festival last fall at Kingston, N. Y. This group was divided between the All State Mixed Chorus and the Girl's Choir. This same group from our club anticipates singing on a broadcast from WKIP soon. future farmers of America Learning to do Doing to learn Earning to live Living to serve New Paltz Future Farmers try to live up to this motto of their organization. They are greatly encouraged to strive towards this goal by awards of the New Paltz Huguenot Grange and the American Agriculturist. Class work of high order, developing a farming program, evidence of thrift and leadership determine these awards. Henry Mertz was the 1946 winner. During this school year, the future farmers were called upon to help finance the new State F. F. A. Leadership Camp. By selling magazine subscriptions and flower seeds, and holding a very successful carnival, they were able to add materially to this fund. Their many and varied activities include: target rifle shooting and contests, social and business meetings, judging and athletic meetings with other F. F. A. chapters in this state. The club officers were: Herbert Alexander President Jimpiy Klyve ,i ( -President William Cuthbert Earl Jenkins Guy Gardner Gilbert Marks Norman Gardner Frederick Heinsohn art Club This is the second year in which the Art Club has accomplished many things for the school. It has made posters, party decorations, prom bids, murals, and conducted assembly programs. pant) The New Paltz Central High School Band, under the direction of Mrs. Arras, started out early this past fall with many enthusiasts. After a few rehearsals a definite number of members were found that could be counted on for their cooperation and maintenance of a good school band. The band was the largest it has ever been with many new members from the Freshman class. We added a new activity this year, that of playing for the basketball games. Players and rooters enjoyed the marches, and other tunes that put all in a fighting spirit for the game.
