It has all been a great deal of fun, and educational, too. The participants have enjoyed singing and working with Mrs. Arras. BAND This year’s band consists of 23 members, all interested in music in many different ways: some enjoy it as a hobby; others because it aids in working together; others because they intend to make music their profession. Mrs. Arras, our band director, finds it interesting work leading the band in its steady progress. The band has performed on many occasions, among them being at assembly programs, at the Senior Play, and at graduation exercises. Some time this spring, the band will give a Victory Concert. FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA “Learning to do Doing to learn Earning to live Living to serve.” New Paltz Future Farmers live up to this motto of the nationwide organization, The Future Farmers of America. Ever since its organization in 1935, the New Paltz Chapter has been very active, holding meetings every two weeks with educational programs and social and athletic activities. Each member conducts practical work or projects on the home farm, with the ownership and management of important enterprises. These projects are continued and improved until he is eventually conducting a small business that represents the activities of the entire farm. Some of our former members are now in the armed services, in war industry or on the farm, all meeting their country’s need where they can be of most service. Wherever they are, they are doing their best. Officers for the 1942-43 school year are: President ..... Vice-President .... Secretary ..... Treasurer ----- Reporter ...... Advisor -

CHEERLEADERS These are our peppy Cheerleaders who have kept up our school spirit during the brief basketball season. They started the season off with a Pep Rally, before our first big game. It was at this time that two new cheerleaders, Olga Taraduck and Teresa Hanley, made their first appearance beside our two “regulars,” Lois Tamney, Captain, and Joan Hanley. Despite transportation difficulties, the cheerleaders were present at as many games as possible to lead us in our cheers for victory. RIFLE CLUB Here on our rifle range, we have found a sport that is real fun, that is worth while, and a hobby we can enjoy throughout life. Our club has a charter from the National Rifle Association, Washington, D. C. All our members become junior riflemen and can compete for rating medals from the War Department and the N. R. A., as well as participate in postal matches with Junior Rifle Clubs all over the U. S. A. Good marksmen are made, not born; and the shooting experience gained by many of our former members now in the armed forces is paving real dividends. Members R. Heroy R. Dorr E. McGrath H. Moran J.
