SENIOR PLAY With superstition boldly staring them in the face, the members of the Senior Play, “The Charm School,” awaited the opening of the curtain somewhat nervously on Friday, the thirteenth. Finally the curtain went up, and the play began. Joe Castellana, in the role of Austin Bevans, found he had inherited a school for girls, much to the delight of his bachelor friends. Upon taking over the management of the school, Austin made a rule that not one of the girls could be alone with any of the teachers, his friends, at any time. Virginia Locascio, as Elise Benedotti, broke the rule several times, ending up with a near tragedy for her, followed by a declaration of her love for Austin. After much ado, they settled the awkward situation. Connie Pedersen and Herbert Coon, without the aid of the ever-ready-to-help Miss Curtis, really Violet Cuthbert, provided a second love affair between Miss Hays, the beloved teacher, and Homer Johns, Elise’s uncle and the former husband of Miss Hays. With the help of the supporting cast, the silent players back-stage, and the never-failing help of Mrs. Switzer, “The Charm School” became a success for the Class of ’43.

FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA “Learning to do Doing to learn Earning to live Living to serve.” New Paltz Future Farmers live up to this motto of the nationwide organization, The Future Farmers of America. Ever since its organization in 1935, the New Paltz Chapter has been very active, holding meetings every two weeks with educational programs and social and athletic activities. Each member conducts practical work or projects on the home farm, with the ownership and management of important enterprises. These projects are continued and improved until he is eventually conducting a small business that represents the activities of the entire farm. Some of our former members are now in the armed services, in war industry or on the farm, all meeting their country’s need where they can be of most service. Wherever they are, they are doing their best. Officers for the 1942-43 school year are: President ..... Vice-President .... Secretary ..... Treasurer ----- Reporter ...... Advisor -
