Marie Bell (Captain) Madelon Freer Ruth Seward ELIZA BETII IIAsBHOUCK IA R JO RIE T REM PE R GIRLS BASKETBALL Ruth Van Valen (Manager) May Dietrich Ruth Fitch Mildred Zimmerman Frances Buchanan Mary Lucy Coach—Mr. Kickham Rtf'llK GIRLS Basketball team started the season of 1981 ami 1982 with our new coach, Mr. Kickham. Our ambition was to win the cup in the NOSL league. But we had to be contented with winning seven games out of nine and tying one. Probably the most exciting game was the one played with Maybrook on our own court; when after the visitors had lead for nearly the whole time, our girls rallied with a great burst of speed and tied the score in the last couple minutes of play. Considering all, the girls teams were stronger this year with the exception of Marlboro. This record is not one to be ashamed of. “Bell” was high scorer for the team. “Freer” and “Tin” HasBrouek who have played with the team for three years will be members of the graduating class. Whatever measure of success the girls team attained is due to the efforts of our able coach, Mr. Kickham. 22

VARSITY BASKETBALL Captain.......................Isaac Bell Manager...................Walter Dunham Coach—John Kickham team of 31-32, although it fell short of winning the “NOSU |j league hy a margin of one game, will long he remembered. This season ended the high school basketball careers of Ike” Bell, “Beb” Barnes, “Toots” DuBois, “Walt” Dunham and Jim” Moran. All of these boys will be remembered as members of the wonder team of 30-31. So much for ancient history, let's look back over the last campaign. Under the capable direction of Coach Jack Kickham the boys won 12 games and lost 8. Once again found Ike” Bell, the leading scorer of the league. Playing the pivot position and a spotted player.” Captain Bell managed to average 13 points a game. In the forward positions, found Captain-elect “Pete” Moran and Walt Dunham. Pete played a bang up game all season and really deserves the honor the boys have bestowed upon him, by electing him captain. Dunham as in other years was one of the mainstays of the team. In the guard position “Jim” Moran and “Beb Barnes showed up well. Barnes with his bullet like passes and unexpected shots won the admiration of everyone. “Jim” Moran played the other position with the coolness of a veteran. “Toots” DuBois alternating at the guard position with Moran was the most improved player on the squad. “Lee” Coddington and Sam Savago along with “Pete” Moran should form a fine nucleons for a fast outfit next year. 21
