jorned us thrs year was our Swrss drrector Joe Murnan and John Serfert left us thrs year we entered the thrrd grade strll wrth splrt classes 'vlrss LaDonna Swarn and Nlrs Mrldred Rose taught us more of the three R s We enJoyed arrth ic races at the blackboard Charles Boots and Doug Herron were rndrvrdual class wrnners and Charles Boots was grade wrnner Marrlyn Krssel re ed her frrst box of chocolate covered cherrres rn the thrrd grade Doug Herron John Serfert and Drana Toth jorned the classes When we entered the fourth grade some felt that they had been graduated after spendrng three years rn the present musrc room Our class was ed for the frrst trme and we had fun becomrng better acquarnted wrth the other members of our grade Vlrs Ann McNamara wrth her arched eye made us walk the chalklrne Brll Gambrel poured a bottle of perfume on the grrl who sat next to htm but was caught and he pard for hrs mrs vous act Duane Cox John Esarey and Sara Sutton Jorned us Mrs Rachel Lantz gave us brrthday partres rn the frfth grade Doug Herron our frfth grade basketball star played on the Junror hr second team class was rncreased to forty frve when Sara Sutton Jorned Mr Wallace Cones trted to teach us more drscrplrne rn the srxth grade On the day of our mock electron of 1952 the class wrth the exceptron of rg Herron and Marrlyn Krssell who helped wrth the electron grew qurte norsy when Mr Cones was not rn the room He enjoyed watchrng the class v 1 O00 boxes wrth a crrcle rnstde each and x and a number rnsrde the crrcle Debbre Prerson, Karen Prke and Sherry Wood decrded that they rt lrke to srt near one another after Mr Cones took 7010 off therr crtrzenshrp grades the frrst srx weeks John Serfert and Sara Sutton left us thrs year Sharla Crane and Joe Murnan rejorned us Bewtldered, we wandered rnto the study hall rn the fall of 1953 Our sponsor was Mrss Helen Scott Eddre and Reba Abbott had aperfect crtrzen :record thrs year whrle 24 members of our class were on the to us the senrors feted us wrth a dance where Peggy Morgan who has srnce moved to Wrlkrnson Hrgh School, and Joe Murnan were presented the good sportsmanshrp awards Marcra Dost Vernon Klerman and Rrchard Moeller from the Lutheran School Sarah Church Brll Krrkwood Nancy Polley Dennrs Rush Gene rlrng and Sara Sutton from Brandywrne School and John Serfert from St Mrchael s became members of NPHS wrth the rest of us who had already ded here Our freshman class offrcers were Eddre Abbott presrdent John Ferns vrce presrdent Reba Abbott secretary Duane Cox treasurer Marrlyn l student councrl and Dennrs Rush convocatron We recerved our long awarted class sweaters at the begrnnrng of the basketball season durrng our sophomore year Lloyd Cowan the shortest boy r class, ,torned us thrs year Debbre Prerson was elected varsrty cheerleader and was qurte thrrlled to yell on the Butler freldhouse floor at the onal Doug Herron played on the varsrty thrs year and also went to the regronal wrth the team Norma Wood had to stand rn a corner of the study because she laughed at her srster Kathy Debbre Prerson sang Be Krnd to your Web footed Frrends rn advance algebra and Mr Robert DeMun made her srt rn the hall Norma led our class thrs year as she was class presrdent Vrce presrdent was Marvrn Dorrel secretary Marrlyn Krssel treasurer Nancy Polley lent councrl Debbre Prerson and convocatron Duane Cox Our class rrngs arrrved the frrst day of our Junror year Excrtedly we trred them on frndrng some too large and some too small Peggy Applegate Ohro and Ernre Frazrer from Calrfornra made our class total 38 The Junror senror receptron was held at the lndrana Unrversrty Medrcal Center as a nrght of fun and excrtement at the receptron and at the party followrng the receptron at Peggy Applegate s and the breakfast at Duane Cox s Duane Cox made a very effectrve speech on class nrght presentrng the gold key to the next year s Junror presrdent Other offrcers were vrce ident, Doug Herron, secretary Norma Wood co treasurers John Esarey and Marrlyn Krssel convocatron Debbre Prerson student councrl Marrlyn Drana Toth and Sherry Wood became very able flag twrrlers for the band We were very proud of Sherry Wood when she recerved frrst rn the state 1 solo contest for the second consecutrve year Thrs year for the frrst trme two boys were sent to Boys State Eddre Abbott and John Ferns represented New Palesttne Marrlyn Krssel arrrved at na Unrversrty on the day the boys left Boys State to attend Grrls' State Our senror year frnally arrrved after our eleven years of torl and struggle John Ferns presrdent led us through our many and varred actrvrtres assistrng hrm were vrce presrdent Brll Gambrel secretary Karen Prke treasurer Debbre Prerson and student councrl Peggy Applegate J-lavrng our Senror prctures taken selectrng announcements class colors flower and motto workrng on the Avalon and grvrng our class play part of the fun durrng our senror year Marrlyn Krssel
