,FM ,V Stratford Hotel Sunset Drive New Orlean, Louisiana June 20, 1951 QA letter from Anita Smith to Anita Roesenerl Dearest Anita, I received your grand letter and I'm certainly glad to hear that you and your angora cat are so happily settled in your new home in New Pales tins. I just closed my eyes and sat there dreaming I was with you again. I have had the most delightful trip! You'll be surprised to learn how many of our old friends I've met on my ,journey down here to accept my new position of teaching in the New Orleans kindergarten school. I took the train from Indianapolis and guess who is president of the Pennsylvania railroad, that's right , Roy Faut. His cousin Clyde is a wealthy farmer in Hancock County, but I suppose you already know that, Have you heard about the new dance studio at Indianapolis? The business manager is Ed Donelson, and the most popular instructor is Ruth Oertel. Wh le on the airplane I met Wilzm. Davidson who is now an air hostess, she informed me that Bob Manche is now an Ace pilot of the American Air- Ways, and is now very famous. ' When I arrived at the station,I was interviewed by a reporter from the New Orleans Star the reporter was-none other than our faithful Avalon typist, Lhdge Irv ne, Our old friend Louise Moss is writing a colmnn entitled 'Advice to the Lovelorn' for the New York Herald, and Junior lhttingly is owner of the Cotton Queen Excursion lines, on the Mississippi ver. I'm certainly going to plan an excursion trip soon. I spent a very pleasant evening at the theatre and after the picture I had the thrill of goinghback stage to meet four more of our old class- mates of N. P. H. S. ey were: Betty Bains Marjorie Andis, and Ruth Hollister who are the singing trio with C arles Tongret's swing band. They told me that Leroy Wulf has the title of the world's champion drumner and that John Carlton is with Sammy Kay's orchestra as a clarinet la er. While Ipways still at the railroad station,I met Frank Branam, and learn ed that he is a traveling tobacco auctioneer. By the way, James Whiteman and Elmer Ortel own the beautiful hotel where I'm sta in . Did you kznovz tgat New Palesti.ne's former athlete, Harold Breece is now a star football player at Notre Dame? I read an article in this morninfw paper stating that Norman Westlake is now a famous artist and is leav ng soon on an extended trip through Euro e. Hoghum it is past ny hed-time-and I begin my duties at the school to- morrow, so I must close but I cou1dn't sleep until I'd told you the news about our grand old class of 1941. r Your pal, Anita Marjorie Andis Ruth Hollister .-V-tin:--f-f.5--f,..a....T., ..MW,,',,.e.- ,ea ,.,e.,VJ,r,,W .,.. 7 f r,,r Ze?
