lfteme MEETING THE NEEDS OF YOUTH Education for Democracy and Education for Life Adjustment, are the objectives of the secondary schools of today. How the New Oxford High School has attempted to meet the needs of its youth, is the theme woven, pictorially, through the pages of Momento 1952. THE THQ IMPERATIVE NEEDS OF YOUTH-- 1. WORK. All youth need to develop salable skills. 2. HEALTH. A11 youth need good health and physical fitness. 3. CITIZENSHIP. All youth need to understand the rights and duties of the citizen in a democracy. 4. l-IOME. All youth need to understand the significance of the family and what helps in a successful amily life. - 5. THRIFT. All youth need to know how to purchase and use goods and services intelligently. 6. SCIENCE. All youth need to understand the main scientific facts and their influence on human life. 7. APPRECIATION. All youth need opportunities no develop appreciation of beauty in art, music, literature 'and nature. . LEISURE TIME. All youth need to be able to use their leisure time wisely and well. . SOCIAL. All youth need to develop respect for others and to live cooperatively with them. . LANGUAGE.
