We, the Class of 1969, proudly dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Newman. Of our many advisors—a new one each year— he stands out in our minds. During our last two years at NMHS he has excelled both as guidance counselor and class advisor. Under his aid our class treasury prospered, our Junior Prom was a success, and in general he brought us away from the apathy of Freshmen and Sophomores. He made our years as Juniors and Seniors the most memorable years in High School. We appreciate the cheerfulness and firmness with which he guided us and are indebted to him for the time and effort that he devoted to us. 19

Daniel E. Center, Jr. Principal You have been a high school student during a period of time when acute international and social ills have produced uncertainty, distrust, and in some instances temporary anarchy. You as students have witnessed and studied about the war in Vietnam, race relations, and the problems of the urban ghetto. Many of us who graduated a quarter of a century ago have tended to excuse our high school performance and subsequent record because we were in high school when our nation was involved in a truly great war. You could, but I hope you do not search for a similar excuse. Your high school experience should have helped you to determine life-long personal and occupational goals, an appreciation of your cultural heritage, a willingness to make changes in our political, social, and economic patterns in a democratic, refined manner, and a concern for your fellow man. May the future contain your rightful share of happiness and success! To the Class of 1969:
