But, sure, the sky is big, I said; Miles and miles above my head; So here upon my back I'll lie And look my fill into the sky. And so I looked, and, after all, The sky, I said, must somewhere stop, And—sure enough!—I see the top! The sky, I thought, is not so grand; I 'most could touch it with my hand! And, reaching up my hand to try, I screamed to feel it touch the sky. From Renascence Edna St. Vincent Millay 5 From COLLECTED POEMS, Harper Row. Copyright 1912, 1940 by Edna St. Vincent Millay. TT We, the Class of 1966, and Mr. Hugh Magoun entered New Milford High School together; and together we have worked on major class projects: the Sophomore Talent Show; the Junior Prom, class socials, and our yearbook. Mr. Magoun's good humor, genuine interest, and hard work have been largely responsible for our successes. In the classroom his enthusiasm, his genuine knowlege of his subject, and above all, his interest in us as individuals have made our English classes memorable. We, the Class of 1966, in recognition of his interest in and devotion to our class proudly dedicate our yearbook to Mr. Hugh Magoun. 10 ADMINISTRATION To the Class of 1966: Public secondary schools have a variety of obligations to their students and society in general. Among these is the development of desirable attitudes and personal characteristics in each student. In keeping with this aim, we hope you have acquired a set of values during your years here, a set of values that tells you certain courses of action or choices or decisions are more worthy of your esteem and favor as an intelligent human being than others. May the future contain for you your rightful share of happiness and accomplishment. Daniel E. Center, Jr. MR. WILLIAM J. O'NEILL Vice-Principal MR. GEORGE LAPINSKY Guidance Counselor MR. PAUL J. The differences between Syria and the United States made everything interesting to me: the landscape, the customs, the way people think and act, and even the friendly and helpful people themselves. In my first days of school I thought that I would never be able to understand the system and the fast conversations, but soon this was not a problem anymore. I think there is no better way to gain understanding than through personal contact. tie Ol Ltfi-L 61 REMEMBER In our freshman year— When we all decided to do our homework faithfully and make the honor roll every term? Vocational Agriculture is a very important subject in many rural comprehensive high schools for young people with farm backgrounds and especially for those planning for a career in agricultural production, agricultural business, or agricultural professions. There are 1500 jobs each year in these fields of Agribusiness open to persons fitted for them. Agriculture needs more fully trained personnel for leadership in this fast-growing and changing industry. Nearly 40% of all working people find their careers within the above areas. Young people can have a happy and profitable future if they will prepare themselves with the interest, encouragement, special abilities, and enthusiasm developed in Vocational Agriculture and the program of the Future Farmers of America. A strong agricultural program brings a strong national economy and a healthy population. Row 1: B. Bierbower; B. Porter, Secretary; J. Lillis; K. Hunt; D. Went, President; B. McBreairty; M.
