FOREWORD This is Schaghticoke, the story of the class of 1962. Just what is the New Milford High School Class of 1962? Statistically the class consists of one hundred young men and women. But Schaghticoke is more than statistics, it is a biography, a story, and a diary. It is the biography of a group of people from its birth four years ago to its maturity upon graduation. It is the story of boys and girls who learned to work, play, and live with others, while acquiring the foundations for their place in the adult world. It is the diary of the day to day accomplishments of each of them, the triumphs and the tragedies, the rewards and the goals. For the Class of ’62 represents not only one hundred individuals but one hundred separate hopes, dreams, and ambitions for a future that they have essentially prepared for here at NMHS. Today, these doors open to one hundred different paths each leading in a different direction. Eventually some may cross again, and still others merge to form a smoother highway. Regardless of direction and terrain we should like to express here our sincere wish that each path may ultimately bring its particular traveler to the realization of every dream and ambition and the satisfaction of a rich and fully successful life.
