AWS has as its purpose the promotion of unity and fellowship among women students and the provision of opportunities for leadership and participation in worthwhile activities on the campus. AWS acts as a coordinating body of all women ' s organizations in setting the standards for living and working together on campus. These women ' s organizations select a member to represent them on the General Council, while the top five officers are elected by vote of the women students.
