jowfwr Senior Class History A small class that can make more than their share of the noisy uproars of the schoolrooms !--That's us !--the Seniors of 1946! Since 1934, the year we started our school careers, we have been an active, hilarious group, who have caused many a teacher to murmur 'Why did I ever let myself in for this !' There are four of the members of this class who have 'stuck together' through all the ups and downs of all twelve years. They are Ailene Swearingen, Harold Cash, David Myers, and Clayton Morgan. Our class has never had a large amount of members and in our four years of high school it has gradually become even smaller. Our first eight years of school were spent in annoying the teachers--in a playful way of course--and grasping the funda- mentals of Readin', 'Ritin' and 'Rithmetic. When we enrolled as Freshmen the class consisted of Z3 members--Shirley Bergman, Berley Britton, Marvin Burkett, Harold Cash, Eddie Deck, Theron Davis, Robert Long, Mary Mickels Clayton Morgan, David Myers, Harold Newlin, Ruth Palmer, Eu- gene Potter, Arthur Rice, Lorene Rosen, Max Servies, Robert Steele Ailene Swearingen, Geneva Todd, Oakel Tribbett, Darlene Wheeler, Doretha Wininger, and joe Zachary. Later in the year 5 more stu- dents enrolled. These were: Robert Lee Buser, Dale Maltsburger, Alice Nickols, Lindy Simms, and Ruth Lester. During our Freshmen year we had no outstanding activ- ities. We strutted around preening ourselves with self-ap- proval until the Seniors took us down a notch or two and smeared us with lip-stick. This deflated us quite a bit and thereafter in order to save ourselves embarrassment, we did all that was possible to please our enemy, the Seniors. At last we quit being green Freshies and became Sophomores. When we enrolled, we found that we had lost eight of our class- mates. These were Shirley Bergman, Robert Long, Harold Newlin, Ruth Palmer, Eugene Potter, Robert Steele, Oakel Tribbett, and Lorene Rosen. Roberta Rusk, Kenneth Gardner, and Robert Cox were our only new members. These changes having been made, we had a membership of ZZ. This year we knuckled down to our work and at long last gained our right to be juniors. At the starting of our junior year we had Z1 members. Lin- dy Simms had separated from the class during the summer and Lois Quigg had entered. This was our year of joyful events!

10414444- First came our junior Play 'Star Crazy.' Every member of the class did some kind of work to help the play along to a successful end. After the play came the Class Tourney! The junior boys came out triumphant! With the coming of spring came the junior-Senior Reception. This was our first real grown-up entertaimnent, and we really put it over with a bang! It was held at the Club House at Craw- fordsville. The Club House was decorated like an Hawaiian Is- land. Palms were arranged over the floor to give the impression of a southern atmosphere. As we entered the Senior year we found we had lost 6 members. These were Robert Cox, Ruth Lester, Dale Maltsburger, Roberta Rusk, Doretha Wininger and joe Zachary. joan Steele and Betty Trimble entered into our class making a total of 17 members. Lukily all the members of the senior class--Berley Britton, Marvin Burkett, Bob Buser, Harold Cash, Theron Davis, Eddie Deck, Kenneth Gardner, Clayton Morgan, David Myers, Lois Quigg, Arthur Rice, Max Servies, Ailene Swearingen, joan Steele, Geneva Todd, Betty Trimble, and Darlene Wheeler--will get their diplomas in April. Several of our boys expect to start working for Uncle Sam at the end of the school year. The mernbers of our class who play on the New Market Basketball teams are: Marvin Burkett. Bob Buser, Harold Cash, Eddie Deck, Clayton Morgan, and David Myers. Our class officers are: President, Marvin Burkett, Vice President, Clayton Morgan, Secretary-Treasurer, Geneva Todd. Our sponsor is Mr. Paul Wilson. The members of the class who represent us on the Student Council are Marvin Burkett and Clayton Morgan. ' After our graduation in April we shall all go our into the world and either 'make or break' ourselves, No matter how many happy experiences or hardships we encounter, we will all remember the good times of the 'Class of l946.'
